Professional Information
Dr. Amy Fullerton is an Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Dr. Fullerton received a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from The University of Florida in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences/ Communication Sciences and Disorders. Since 2016, she has held board-recognized specialty certification in ‘swallowing and swallowing disorders’ and is one of only 21 clinicians in the state of Florida holding this certification. She is one of two American members of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). Prior to entering academia, she was an acute-care and outpatient clinician for twelve years, most recently at the Davis Cancer Center at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. Dr. Fullerton currently teaches Dysphagia and Motor Speech Disorders at the graduate level and Intro to Speech Disorders and Medical Speech Pathology at the undergraduate level. Her research interests include airway protection, swallowing disorders and functional outcomes following treatment for head and neck cancer. Dr. Fullerton is published in the Journal Dysphagia, Stroke, Head & Neck, Laryngoscope, Frontiers in Physiology, Respiratory Physiology and Neurobiology, Quality of Life Research and the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
