Clinical Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counseling

​91³ÉÈËAV offers a Master of Science in Clinical Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counseling (MS-CMHC) ​in the School of Applied 91³ÉÈËAV Sciences, Brooks Rehabilitation College of 91³ÉÈËAVcare Sciences. This CACREP accredited, 60-credit-hour degree program in Clinical Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counseling meets the educational requirements for State of Flo​rida licensure as a Licensed Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counselor (LMHC) and state licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and satisfies the statutorily required course content for Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy licensure.  

The CMHC program is the recipient of the following awards:

2024 Innovation in Counseling: Counselor Education Community Engagement Award from the National Board for Certified Counselors 

2024 Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Outstanding Master's Counselor Education Program Award

CMHC Mission Statement

The mission of the 91³ÉÈËAV's School of Applied 91³ÉÈËAV Sciences Clinical Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counseling (CMHC) program is to provide an academically rigorous, inclusive, and supportive environment in which to prepare professional counselors to work in a variety of mental health settings including but not limited to, private practice, hospitals, community counseling centers, for profit and non-profit agencies, public health departments, and schools that offer therapeutic services. This preparation occurs in an atmosphere of fairness, equity, and justice, emphasizing creative learning, excellence in counseling skills and techniques, ethical and professional integrity, and social justice, advocacy and multicultural competencies.

Accreditation

CACREP ACCREDITATION 

91³ÉÈËAV's Clinical Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counseling Program is accredited through the  under the 2016 standards. The JU CMHC accreditation is valid through October 2027, at which time an application for re-accreditation will be submitted. All JU CMHC program graduates have been recognized as having graduated from a CACREP accredited program.

Licensure

State of Florida Course Requirements for Licensure

JU’s CMHC Core Curriculum has a specialization in clinical mental health counseling. It also offers a concentration in Couples, Marriage, and Family Counseling. This degree meets the academic requirements for licensure as designated in the for both Clinical Mental 91³ÉÈËAV Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.  

Students are encouraged to review the state standards and guidelines and notify the faculty advisor of practice preference so that the appropriate site placement is secured for the practicum and internship.
